If you are hired as a disc jockey, your main responsibility is to make sure that the program is doing really well. You make sure that the program is going smoothly and at the same time you are speaking to a live audience. A disc jockey could also work for a radio station. You make sure that your guests are well entertained. You also make sure that there is good music being played during the program. You should also be able to take song requests from your audience, and do some live interviews to guests coming in over the station. You can also have an effective program by having gimmicks to make sure that your listeners are more drawn to you.

 

For starters, you will have to work in shifts. However, if you have been in the business for some time, then most probably, you can choose the shift that you want. You can choose this career as a hobby or a job. If you want this kind of career, you should at least have a bachelor’s or associate’s degree.  You need to be familiar with the different equipment that will be used. You should have good communication skills so that you can talk to your audience effectively. Moreover, you should also have clear diction, a pleasant and controlled voice, and of course, good timing.

You can work freelance and be hired by private individuals and companies for their events, or you can work at a radio station. This career can be done part time or full time.
